About Carnival of Binche
A UNESCO masterpiece since 2003 with roots in the 14th century. Gilles wear wax masks, green glasses, and ostrich feather hats on Shrove Tuesday. They throw oranges to the crowd as a blessing. Only town natives may join the Gilles societies.
