About Obon
A Buddhist festival honoring the spirits of ancestors. Lanterns guide spirits back to the family altar. Bon Odori dances are performed in a circle. Floating lanterns (toro nagashi) are sent down rivers on the final night. The spirits are believed to return for 3 days. Similar to Day of the Dead and Hungry Ghost Festival.
