About Isle of Wight Festival
The 1970 edition drew an estimated 600,000 people, among the largest crowds in music history. Jimi Hendrix gave one of his final performances there. Parliament then passed a law to prevent gatherings that size. Revived in 2002 as a family friendly rock festival.
