About Palio di Siena

A bareback horse race around the shell shaped Piazza del Campo. Ten of the seventeen contrade districts compete in each race. Jockeys negotiate three unforgiving laps in about 90 seconds. A riderless horse can still win. The passion divides Sienese families for life.
