About Harbin Ice Festival
The worlds largest ice and snow festival. Massive buildings are constructed from ice blocks. Sculptures are illuminated with colored lights at night. Temperatures can drop to -35C. Ice is taken from the frozen Songhua River. The tallest sculptures reach 46 meters. Started in 1963, interrupted during the Cultural Revolution.
